A Thrilling Short Film Shot Using the DJI Digital FPV System

Produced by DJI, Curves Magazin and Porsche, a short car film at the Gotthard Pass, Switzerland, proved the perfect occasion to try out the capabilities of DJI’s new Digital FPV System.

Until now, FPV drones have mainly been used for drone racing and freestyle flying. However, the dynamic angles and the high speed shots which can be achieved with the camera on a FPV drone are an exciting new tool for film makers to experiment with. By mixing fast-paced FPV shots with cinematic aerials and ground shots they are able to create a new and fresh video style.

The DJI Digital FPV System is very reliable and integrates seamlessly in the production workflow.  We expect to see many new film makers embracing FPV filming, especially when combined with cameras like the Osmo Action.

Check out both the film and the making of this thrilling production.

Have you ever dreamed of flying alongside birds? That’s what the ornithologist Christian Moullec has been doing for many years with his ultralight aircraft. These experiences inspired French film director Nicolas Vanier to produce ‘Spread Your Wings’, a film that tells the story of a man and his son that teach an endangered species of wild geese how to migrate from the Arctic Circle to the South of France in order to survive.

The French director chose DJI drones and cinematic camera stabilisation technology mounted on ultralight planes to help shoot his film. In order to film the birds flying and the actors in their ultralight plane, the production team used the DJI Inspire 2 drone with the DJI Zenmuse X7 camera, giving a real ‘bird’s-eye view’.
